DesignDaily Network just received a students project from a Serbian Students Group; University of Novi Sad
, the project called "Anamorphosis"

Anamorphosis is an optical illusion based on perspective projections. The drawing is made on a pavement and has a 3D effect only from a singular viewing point. If a viewer is not standing in the right spot it is clear that the drawing is two-dimensional and looks distorted.

This type of optical illusion is very fitting for symbolical projects due to its unique quality. If you browse through literature you can find several world famous architects defining their profession. However, the one that really stands out among others is Ranko Radović’s – ‘Architecture is a joyous and bright shadow of human life’.

We can define our profession as finding creative ways to shape a cube, as well as solving their spatial relations. Every concept of a project is different and has its own ID, but the essence of every single one has the same foundation. That is why a transparent cube was designed, which symbolically represents architecture itself. It casts three colorful shadows from different angles. Every color is different showing that an idea can go in either direction.

The goal was to encourage every pedestrian, who crosses its paths with our optical illusion, to think. If we were all looking from the same angle, we would see the same image. Even though we’d perceive the same image, we wouldn’t draw the same conclusion. This is rooted in our own uniqueness. We are all different from one another, which should be cherished and used to complement each other.
