Ordos Concert Hall

The concert hall’s design is based on the movements of the Long Sleeve Dance, a traditional Chinese dance popular among both royalty and civilians during the Tang Dynasty. The undulating curves of three circular drums, housing a 1,200-seat main concert hall, a 335-seat performance theater, and a 100-seat experimental black box theater, recall the dance’s steps and the looping movement of the “long sleeves.” Circulation spaces weave between the theaters like the sleeves, with a series of nodes that include lounges, refreshment areas, and service functions.
